1  International Context

The world electricity outlook brings some information by region in the world, such as installed capacity, consumption, generation, export and import of electricity. In addition, the chapter brings rankings of the 10 largest countries in terms of electricity consumption, renewable and non-renewable installed capacity, installed capacity by source, renewable and non-renewable generation, in addition to electricity generation by source.

For comparison purposes, it is important to note that international data have a base year of 2024, due to the difficulty of compatibility between the countries that provide this information.

The data for Brazil, presented throughout this chapter, come from the Brazilian Energy Balance (BEN) of the EPE, while the data for the other countries are obtained from the U.S. Energy Administration (EIA) of the United States government.
